To energise party cadre at the grassroots ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls in Punjab, Bharatiya Janata Party National President, Nitin Nabin, on Saturday reached the walled city of Amritsar for a three-day outreach effort among various sections of society, comprising industrialists and representatives of businesses.
The maiden visit of the BJP chief comes in the wake of Union Home Minister Amit Shah making it clear that the party will contest the Assembly elections on its own, ruling out any pre-poll alliance with any political party, including its previous decade-old partner Shiromani Akali Dal.
HM Shah at a rally in state’s Moga area on March 14 had made it clear that the era of the BJP playing second fiddle in Punjab is over.
Accompanying Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh and Member of Parliament Tarun Chugh, the BJP chief was given a grand welcome in Punjabi style, featuring 'dhol' beats and energetic 'bhangra' performances, on reaching Amritsar by air.
During the visit, Nitin Nabin will participate in a series of religious, social, organisational and intellectual engagements across Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana.
State General Secretary Anil Sarin said Nitin Nabin will begin his visit by paying obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib.
He will also visit the historic Jallianwala Bagh, Shri Durgiana Mandir and Sri Ram Tirath Mandir to seek blessings and pay tribute to the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Punjab.
Later in the evening, he will proceed to Jalandhar where BJP workers and supporters will accord him a grand welcome.
On Sunday, Nabin will participate in International Yoga Day celebrations at Lovely Professional University.
Thereafter, he will travel to Ludhiana where he will formally inaugurate the District BJP office on Dugri Road and hold an extensive mass meeting with sub-circle incharges and senior organisational functionaries.
In the evening, he will interact with industrialists and representatives from the business community.
Sarin said that on June 22 the BJP National President will meet MPs, MLAs, and youth representatives.
A Youth Conclave and separate meetings with state office-bearers, district presidents and the state core group of BJP Punjab are also scheduled during the day.
He said Nitin Nabin's visit will provide fresh momentum to the party’s organisational expansion in Punjab and strengthen the BJP’s outreach among various sections of society.
He added that BJP workers across Punjab are enthusiastic about welcoming the national President and are fully prepared to make the visit a grand success.
