Ranveer Singh starter film Dhurandhar is making headlines ones again and not just for its music, but also for its Pakistan link as Pakistani singer Hasan Jahangir reveals that he was paid $50,000 (around ₹45 lakh) by the makers of the film to use his iconic song ‘Hawa Hawa’.
Talking about it he shares that the filmmakers not only paid him but also took proper permission before including the song in the movie.
Hasan points out that things have changed over time as earlier, there was no proper copyright system and songs were often used without permission however now, anyone who wants to use someone’s music must first seek approval and pay for it justly.
Talking more about the legacy of the song, Hasan said ‘Hawa Hawa’ was recorded in the year 1986 and later released in 1987, and it continues to stay popular even after nearly four decades.
The development once again highlights how classic Pakistani music continues to find space in Indian films, showing an ongoing cultural connection despite political differences.
