Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most talked show on Netflix is all ready for its next season. ‘Heeramand: The Diamond Bazaar' received mixed reviews from the audience. The viewers have been waiting for its sequel since 2024. Now, the creators are prepared to resume where they left off in the show. Vibhu Puri one of the series writers, said work on the show's second part has begun.
As per reports, Vibhu Puri told, "We are currently in the writing stage, exploring the characters and [their] storylines." He went on to add that people had a doubt if the show would work with the current generation or not. The writer expressed that everyone wondered if they "would understand it, but they embraced the world of Heeramandi."
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the show starred Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal. The series was released in May 2024 and went on to become one of the biggest successes of the streaming platform. The series explores the lives of tawaifs (courtesans) at the Shahi Mahal, blending personal and political struggles against the backdrop of British colonial rule in the 1920s-1940s.
The courtesans' lives become entangled with the Indian independence movement, as rebellion brews on the streets and some characters secretly join the fight against British rule. It will be now impressive to see what makers have for season 2.
