Protester Detained During Diljit Dosanjh Concert

Police took the individual into custody after a disturbance at the venue; the concert continued under tight security.

A Pro-Khalistani protestor was arrested by the American police as he breached security and escaped on the stage. The disruption occurred at Dosanjh’s sold out Aura World Tour performance at San Francisco’s Chase Centre. The disruption stemmed from recent protests by hardline factions, including Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), who have targeted the artist over his mainstream media appearances and past Bollywood associations.

On June 21, 2026, a man holding a Khalistan flag climbed onto the Chase Centre stage before being restrained by security and taken into police custody. The accused was immediately taken action over. He was held by the police and taken into custody. Only after which the singer continued his concert and started performing his routine. Diljit firmly mentioned in his concert, that anybody who tries to disrupt his concert or deliberately try to harm his fans will be taken action over and the matter will be handled by the local police authorities. The video of the man being held by the cops is going viral on social media and people are appreciating the efforts of the security system in the comments.

Dosanjh’s concerts have witnessed these kinds of security breaches earlier as well. In April, 2026 during the singers Aura 2026 tour in Canada, a group waved separatist flags and shouted Pro Khalistan symbols in the venue. The reports claim that the protestors were taken out of the venue and the concert continued smoothly. Another incident took place in Calgary where Pro Khalistani flags were spotted in the crowd. Immediately after which the singer stopped performing. He urged the attendees to not convert the musical concert into a political messaging platform and not to politicise the event.

In response to these disruptions, Dosanjh publicly defended the safety of his fans. He clarified that he has no issue with fans holding banners or flags to show support, but explicitly stated that harassment and attempts to ruin concert experiences for families would not be tolerated.

Ahead of the protest in San Francisco last night, the LOS ANGLES City Council honored Diljit Dosanjh for his role in taking Punjabi music to audiences across the world and promoting South Asian culture in mainstream American entertainment. This was done by declaring 6 January, Diljit’s birthday as “Diljit Dosanjh Day” in LOS ANGLES.
