'Hello my traitor friend': Rahul Gandhi heckles Ravneet Bittu outside Parliament

Ravneet Bittu repulsed Gandhi’s gesture and takes a dig at him and calls him “desh ke dushman” (enemy of the nation).

An exchange of words among the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu shows an intense political confrontation in the Parliament today (Wednesday, February 4) where the LoP called Bittu a ‘traitor’. The incident occurred near the Makar Dwar while the suspended MPs were protesting. The Union Minister of State (MoS) Ravneet Singh Bittu who was once a close associate of Gandhi was heckled by the Congress members.

The incident took place during the protest when Ravneet Singh Bittu was walking past the protesting opposition and Rahul Gandhi passed a remark saying, “Here is a traitor walking by, look at that face.” He extended his hand towards Bittu gesturing a handshake and continues to say, “Hello my traitor friend. Don’t worry, you will come back.” Ravneet Bittu repulsed Gandhi’s gesture and took a dig at him and calls him “desh ke dushman” (enemy of the nation).

The Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and other Congress MPs were protesting outside the Parliament after the suspension of eight opposition MPs from the Lok Sabha. In this regard Congress was protesting at Makar Dwar over the suspensions and the controversial India-US trade deal, with placards reading "PM is compromised". The suspended MPs include Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Hibi Eden, Manickam Tagore, Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Kiran Kumar Reddy, Prashant Parole, Dean Kuriakose, and CPI(M) MP S. Venkatesan.
