Know why objection has been raised on Sunidhi Chauhan's Goa concert

In the letter written to the Child Commission, Professor Rao states that Sunidhi Chauhan has sung songs that promote drug abuse.

A complaint has been filed regarding Bollywood singer Sunidhi Chauhan's concert in Goa. A Chandigarh professor Dr. Pandit Rao has filed this complaint, citing the Child Protection Act and had appealed the Goa Child Commission to intervene in the matter. As per information, Sunidhi Chauhan's concert is scheduled for tomorrow, January 25 in Goa.

In the letter written to the Child Commission, Professor Rao states that Sunidhi Chauhan has sung songs that promote drug abuse. He quotes the song ‘Beedi Jalai Le’ and points out that children too attend such concerts so keeping that in view he says that such songs promoting drug use should not be performed at the event.

Goa Administration takes action

Following the complaint filed by Dr. Pandit Rao the Goa Child Commission has taken a strict stance in the case. The South Goa District Child Protection Unit has issued a preventive advisory to the organizers and clearly instructed them not to play any songs that promote the use of tobacco and alcohol in the presence of children. This advisory has been issued in reference to “The Ultimate Sunidhi Live Concert” that is to be held at the 1919 Sports Cricket Stadium.

Objections raised over “Beedi Jalai Le” and “Sharaabi” songs

The advisory instructs that Sunidhi Chauhan and the organizers to not perform the songs “Beedi Jalai Le” and “Sharaabi.” The administration states that these songs actively promote tobacco and alcohol, and since children under 18 year of age will also be attending the event and these songs could have a negative psychological impact on them. The District Child Protection Officer, citing Section 3(4) of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, stated that in every decision concerning children, their physical, mental, moral, and emotional well-being must be given paramount importance.
