CBSE Gives Candidates Another Chance to Apply for 22nd Edition of Teacher Eligibility Test
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reopened the online application window for the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), providing another opportunity to eligible candidates who could not submit their applications during the earlier registration period.
The fresh application window has opened on August 25, 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications until September 1, 2026.
Decision Follows Supreme Court Direction
The decision comes in view of a recent judgment of the Supreme Court in Review Petition (Civil) Diary No. 53434/2025 in Civil Appeal No. 1385/2025. The court emphasised the need to provide eligible teachers with a reasonable opportunity to comply with the statutory requirement of acquiring the prescribed Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualification.
Considering the larger interest of candidates, CBSE has decided to reopen the application portal for those who missed the earlier opportunity.
Earlier Application Window Had Closed in June
CBSE had initially invited applications for the 22nd edition of CTET from May 11 to June 10, 2026, following a public notice issued on May 8.
However, candidates who could not apply during that period will now be able to submit their applications during the extended window. The reopening is expected to provide relief to aspirants who were unable to complete the registration process within the original deadline.
Existing Applicants Need Not Apply Again
Candidates who have already successfully completed and submitted their CTET applications during the earlier application period do not need to submit a fresh application.
The latest opportunity is specifically intended for eligible candidates who could not avail themselves of the previous application window.
Revised Exam Date to Be Announced
CBSE has clarified that the revised date for the 22nd edition of the CTET examination will be announced after the closure of the reopened application portal.
Candidates are therefore advised to complete their applications within the revised deadline and keep checking official CBSE and CTET updates for further information regarding the examination schedule.
The reopening of the application window gives aspiring teachers another chance to appear for the eligibility test, while also ensuring that eligible candidates are not left out due to the earlier application deadline.
