The top-ranked university in India is IIT Madras, according to officials, who stood at number one due to its excellent education, world-class research, quality teaching faculty & placement record.
The Ministry of Education has come out with the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2025 and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras-has occupied the No. 1 spot in the rankings. It is yet another year of IIT Madras leading the rankings and solidifying its position as India's top-ranked higher education institution.
As per sources, the first rank was with IIT Madras due to its superior academic life, state-of-the-art research, quality faculty, innovation-based projects, and proper placement. The institute was also appreciated for foreign collaborations and entrepreneurial orientation with regard to research parks and start-up culture.
The institution of NIRF ranking ranks the colleges and universities based on various parameters such as teaching and learning infrastructure, research and professional practice, graduation, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. IIT Madras ranked high in all the categories that benefited it over other top-class institutes.
The students and faculty state that the number one ranking of IIT Madras time and again indicates India's increasing priority towards world-class education and innovation.
