Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali with India’s naval personnel aboard INS Vikrant, the country’s first indigenously built aircraft carrier, blending festive cheer with a strong message of national unity and defence preparedness. The highlight of the evening was a cultural programme entirely staged by the naval officers themselves. Among the performances, the song ‘Kasam Sindoor Ki’ stood out for its emotional resonance. Composed and sung by the sailors, the song paid tribute to the sacrifices of soldiers and their families, reflecting the human side of life in the armed forces. PM Modi praised the performance, noting the versatility and creativity of the personnel, and called the experience memorable on his X handle.
In his address to the personnel, the Prime Minister connected the spirit of Diwali — the triumph of light over darkness — with India’s growing strength, unity, and resilience. He highlighted the seamless coordination between the Navy, Army, and Air Force, emphasizing that India’s military preparedness has historically acted as a strong deterrent against Pakistan. Commissioned in 2022, INS Vikrant represents a milestone in India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing and naval capability.
