PM Modi celebrates Diwali aboard INS Vikrant, sends strong message to Pakistan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali with India’s naval personnel aboard INS Vikrant

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali with India’s naval personnel aboard INS Vikrant, the country’s first indigenously built aircraft carrier, blending festive cheer with a strong message of national unity and defence preparedness. His visit was marked by cultural performances, expressions of creativity by the armed forces, and a firm reminder of India’s vigilance along its borders, particularly concerning Pakistan.

The highlight of the evening was a cultural programme entirely staged by the naval officers themselves. Among the performances, the song ‘Kasam Sindoor Ki’ stood out for its emotional resonance. Composed and sung by the sailors, the song paid tribute to the sacrifices of soldiers and their families, reflecting the human side of life in the armed forces. PM Modi praised the performance, noting the versatility and creativity of the personnel, and called the experience memorable on his X handle.

In his address to the personnel, the Prime Minister connected the spirit of Diwali — the triumph of light over darkness — with India’s growing strength, unity, and resilience. He highlighted the seamless coordination between the Navy, Army, and Air Force, emphasizing that India’s military preparedness has historically acted as a strong deterrent against Pakistan. The Prime Minister’s remarks underscored not only India’s strategic readiness but also the importance of morale and cultural expression within the forces.

Commissioned in 2022, INS Vikrant represents a milestone in India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing and naval capability. The carrier’s state-of-the-art technology combined with its symbolic presence during a national festival sent a message of both technological achievement and patriotic pride. PM Modi’s Diwali celebration aboard the vessel was a blend of tradition and strategic symbolism, reinforcing the significance of the armed forces in safeguarding the nation.

Beyond showcasing discipline and operational excellence, the Prime Minister’s visit highlighted the creativity and emotional depth of India’s sailors. Music, poetry, and performances allowed the personnel to express themselves, showing that the armed forces are not only defenders of the nation but also bearers of culture, emotion, and human stories. PM Modi’s engagement with the crew, along with his recognition of their artistic contributions, reinforced the emotional bond between the armed forces and the nation.

Through this Diwali celebration, PM Modi sent a clear signal of India’s unity, preparedness, and unwavering resolve. While the festive mood on board INS Vikrant celebrated light, culture, and camaraderie, it also carried a subtle but firm reminder to Pakistan of India’s strategic strength. "The event was a reminder that the country’s armed forces combine courage, creativity, and coordination to protect the nation, and that their sacrifices and talent are an integral part of India’s identity", said officials.

They further added that the Prime Minister’s presence aboard INS Vikrant on Diwali underscored the spirit of national pride, the celebration of human and cultural achievements within the armed forces, and India’s steadfast readiness in the face of external challenges.
