My wife almost smothered me to death, complains a Bengaluru man

My wife almost suffocated me to death with a pillow, I am treated like a slave, alleges a man from Bangalore

A man working in a private company in Bangalore filed acomplaint to police against his wife alleging that she treats him like a slaveand almost smothered him with a pillow In their last conflict.

The plaintiff is a resident of Nagarabhavi, Bangalore inKarnataka. Kiran (name changed), the husband got married to Priya (namechanged) in January 2020. Just within a few days of marriage, Kiran allegesthat Priya started to treat him as a slave and began lashing him regularly.

He added that his wife used to ask him to buy valuables andexpensive things. The husband bought her everything she wanted inclusive of acar for her personal use.

Kiran claims that he took very good care of his wife but shestill used to lash him and intimidate him over one or another issue.

As told by Kiran, harassment by his wife took an intenseturn on the night of September 25. On that night, Kiran had fastened the doorsince it was 10:30 pm but his wife wanted to go out.

He asked his wife not to go out since it was late. Inresponse, Priya tried to fight with him but instead of heating the argument heavoided it and went to sleep.

As he went to sleep at night, he complains that his wifeclimbed up the bed and tried to stifle him to death by putting a pillow on hisface.  Suffocated Kiran pushed his wifeaside which ended in physical assault on him by her. Kiran also told that hewas badly bit by his wife on the knee.

Over the fight, they called the police. The police counseledthem and Kiran's husband was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A senior police officer said that this was not their first time fighting. The couple had involved the police in their fight earlier also.
