Atleast 13 students and two non-academic staff of Delhi's prestigious St.Stephen's college have tested positive for Covid-19.
Thisgroup of students had gone on a trip to Dalhousie recently, where they mighthave contracted the virus. Many of them were staying in the college hostel.After returning from the trip, these students were found to be positive forCovid-19.
Thecollege administration while taking all necessary precautions has stopped allactivities in the college campus for the time being. It also said the Dean ofthe residence has been informed and all Covid protocols are followed.
Indiameanwhile in the last 24 hours reported around 89,129 new coronavirus cases,the highest single-day spike since September 2020.
Withthis the total cases in India now stands at 1, 23, and 92,260 on Saturday. Thecountry has been recording an unabated spike in cases from over three weeks.
Besides,the death toll increased to 1, 64,110 on Saturday with 714 new fatalities. Thenumber of people who have recovered from the disease surged to 1, 15,69,241,while the case fatality rate stood at 1.32 per cent.
