Furtherspearheading its drive against mask violators, the Commissioner Police onSunday made 1890 people loitering without masks to undergo mandatory RTPCRCovid testing at various locations of the city.
Divulgingmore, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that Jalandhar hasbeen witnessing sharp uptick in the Covid cases and Commissionerate police laidspecial 17 nakas and took 1890 people roaming without facemasks to nearby Covidtesting camp.
Hesaid that due to laxity attitude of the some people who were not adhering tothe mask wearing despite repeated appeals, the district has been recordingsurge in the cases.
Heappealed the people to not to lower guard and asked them to follow the SMS(social distancing, Mask and Sanitization) principle in their routine life tocontain fresh wave of the pathogen.
Commissionerof police said that people need to be cautious and must contact the doctorimmediately in case of flu-like symptoms to ensure timely treatment to thepotential Covid patient. Further, he appealed all the eligible to get vaccineimmediately to prevent the spread of the pathogen by breaking transmission ofthe virus.
Bhullaralso reiterated his resolve to deal strictly with the violators especially thehabitual one, who doesn’t care about society in the coming days.
Pointingout further, the commissioner of police said that night curfew was beingenforced strictly in the city and the patrolling parties were doing rounds invarious locations.
