Three sniffer dogs along with 150 Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) deployed for security at the Indian embassy in Afghanistan have been evacuated and safely landed at the Hindon IAF base in Ghaziabad.
The three sniffer dogs - Maya, Ruby and Bobby who were serving the ITBP commandos for three years in Afghanistan were brought back to India amid the turmoil in Kabul.
After receiving training at the ITBP Centre NTCD (National Training Centre for Dogs), Bhanu, in Panchkula, the three dogs were deployed at the Indian Embassy. As per ITBP, they worked with zero errors to track down dread and secure Indian resources in Kabul.
The returning commandos also brought their belongings and their weapons with them.
Vivek Kumar Pandey, ITBP spokesperson said, "With this, our complete contingent deployed for securing the Embassy in Kabul, its four consulates in Afghanistan and diplomats have returned. The commandos came along with the Embassy staffers along with other Indian nationals.”
Thousands of civilians were seen hurling the Kabul airport to flee Afghanistan after the Taliban militants had swept into the capital.
India has invested millions of dollars in several development projects across the nation. There were four offices that operated in Afghanistan besides the embassy in Kabul. The last consulate that was in operation was in Mazar-i-Sharif and was closed down a week ago days before the northern city was captured by the Taliban terrorists.
