32-year-old man held for raping minor girl in Jalandhar

As per family, the accused committed the crime after taking her to an isolated area on the pretext of playing with her. A resident of Baba Budda Ji Nagar, Rama Mandi, and the accused was identified as Sandeep Kumar. He was working as class four employee at Jalandhar Cantonment Board.

Thecops at Rama Mandi police station today arrested a 32-year-old man for raping a2-year-old minor. The incident was reported on Monday night after the mother ofthe child while changing her daughter’s diaper saw her covered with blood.

Asper family, the accused committed the crime after taking her to an isolatedarea on the pretext of playing with her. A resident of Baba Budda Ji Nagar,Rama Mandi, and the accused was identified as Sandeep Kumar. He was working asclass four employee at Jalandhar Cantonment Board.

Asper reports, both, the victim's father and the accused were working in the samedepartment and used to live in the same locality.

Asusual, at around 4.30 PM, the accused went to visit the parents of thevictim.  After spending nearlyhalf-an-hour with them, he left along with the girl on the pretext of playingwith her and buying sweets for her. He reportedly took her on his bicycle.

SHO,Rama Mandi, Sulakhan Singh said, "After physically abusing the child, hefirst took her to his rented apartment and subsequently dropped her at her homearound 6.30 PM. Later, when the mother of the victim child tried to change herdiaper, she found her clothes covered in blood. When she also complained ofstomach aches, her parents immediately took her to a private hospital, wheredoctors confirmed about rape. The girl is currently undergoing treatment in acivil hospital".

Theaccused remained absconding throughout the night and was held today nearJalandhar-Ludhiana highway, claimed the SHO. Sandeep was residing here frompast few years with his wife and a child, who have currently gone to theirvillage in Haryana.

Thepolice have registered a case under Section 376 of the IPC and Section 4 of theProtection of Children from Sexual Offences Act on the complaint of victim’sfather.
