From 7th pass to PhD holders: Who is most and least educated candidate contesting for Punjab LS Polls 2024?

Shiromani Akali Dal has the maximum number of literate candidates while Aam Aadmi Party has least number of candidates that have even passed 12th

The filing of nominations for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 has started in Punjab. Only 21 days are left for assembly elections to take place in the state. While all political parties namely Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, and Shiromani Akali Dal have announced their candidates from all 13 constituencies, BJP is yet to field its candidate from Sri Fategarh Sahib. 

While filing nominations, all candidates must disclose their personal information including age, educational qualification, assents they procure, any credits that must be given back, etc. Of all the candidates contesting for upcoming assembly elections while some have not even cleared 10th standard, others are PhD holders. Talking about each party one by one, AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) has 7 candidates who have either passed 7th, 8th, 10th or 12th while 6 others have completed graduation or higher studies. Out of the total candidates in SAD (Shiromani Akali Dal) 2 have done schooling while others have completed higher studies or at least graduated. In BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) 5 have done schooling whereas 7 have been to college. Lastly, Congress has 4 schooling members; the remaining 9 have graduated or post-graduation. 


As per the list, out of the candidates that will be fighting for the assembly elections, there is one candidate who is 7th passed while 2 are 8th passed. 4 candidates are 10th passed and 10 have completed schooling. Of all the contesting candidates in Punjab, 3 are PhD holders and 6 are professional doctors.
