A nine year old boy, Vishal has been found dead inVaranasi. He had been missing since January 28.
His body was found dumped behind a school building at Paigambarpurvillage under the Sarnath police circle in Varanasi, on Monday.
The family of the victim had received a letter on Sunday in which suspectedkidnappers had asked Rs 50,000 ransom within an hour otherwise they would killVishal.
DIG Amit Pathak said that after receiving the letter, Vishal's father ManjayKumar had gone to Chaubeypur area, as directed by the kidnappers, while a sub-inspectoralso followed him. However, the father returned home after almost two hourssince no one showed up.
The DIG said that the body has been sent for post-mortem and investigations areunderway. Manjay Kumar had lodged a missing complaint at the Sarnath policestation on January 29 after his son went missing earlier in the day.
A case was lodged by the Sarnath police under section 363 (kidnapping) of IPC. Pathaksaid that CCTV footages of the area from where the boy had gone missing, werealso checked but he could not be found.
Some passers-by noticed the body on the evening of Monday and informed thepolice. On the basis of the content of letter and initial investigations, thepolice suspected that the kidnapper is local and close to Manjay's family.
