A day before district council results, Tripura’s royal scion attacked in West Tripura SDM’s office

After the attack, Debarmma came online on his social media handle and showed the whole situation at Mohanpur’s SDM office.

24 hours before the counting of votes for Tripura districtcouncil elections, Tripura’s Indigenous Peoples Regional Alliance (TIPRA) chiefand royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debarmma was attacked by a group ofwrongdoers at Mohanpur’s Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s (SDM) office.

The members of the political party TIPRA and SDM office were also pelted with stones by the hooligans. This whole incident took place infront of the security guards there.

Previously, violence and tensions were reported atMohanpur. The Superintendent of Police of West Tripura, Manik Lal Das told thatthe investigation is going on and the miscreants will be soon under custody.

SP told that “Kishore went to SDM’s office where there hemight be got involved in an argument. But he has reached back to his homesafely and the situation is under control.”

In the evening, Debarmma told that “Some armed goons madetheir way to SDM’s office forcefully to attack me and the members of TIPRA. Ihad gone to enquire about the credentials of the party’s counting agents forSaturday’s counting process.” He added that “Let us fight the Tripura elections2021 politically without physically attacking me or any other member, and let’ssee who has the support of people of Tripura.”

He also added that “Chief Minister Bilap Kumar Deb andDirector General of Police VS Yadav had called me to know my condition afterthe attack and assured that a speedy action will be taken against those who arebehind the attack, they will be punished as soon as possible”

Kishore resigned from the state Congress’s PresidentChair in the year 2019. He floated his own political party this year andfielded candidates in 23 out of 28 seats of Tribal Council polls which wereconducted on Tuesday. After that Debarmma showed confidence that he will winthe Tripura Autonomous District Council (ADC) election 2021 with a clearmajority on April 10.

Polls of TTAADC were held on Tuesday at 1244 pollingstations for 28 elected seats in the 30-member tribal council.
