The long-awaited sequel to ‘The Accountant’ has grossed over $101 million worldwide and is now heading to streaming platforms.

The Accountant 2’ has made its way to OTT release, as Amazon MGM Studios confirms the sequel to start streaming globally, on Amazon Prime Video, from Thursday, June 5, 2025.

The sequel marks the return of Ben Affleck as ‘Christian Wolff’. The film has been a box office success worldwide after its theatrical release on April 25, 2025 in the U.S.

‘The Accountant’ grossed over $150 million at the global box office after its release in 2016 and became the most-rented digital film in the subsequent year. The sequel to the global blockbuster has earned over $100 million globally in its theatrical release after 8 years.

Plot Explained

‘The Accountant’ introduced us to Christian Wolff - a math genius with a quiet, unsettled, and complicated past - who lives a double life balancing spreadsheets by day and dodging bullets at night. With his unmatched skills and calm under pressure nature, he uncovered a massive financial cover-up that tied back to some threatening players with the help of his estranged brother ‘Braxton’, played by Jon Bernthal.

Now, nearly a decade later, ‘The Accountant 2’ brings Christian back into his spotlight as he steps into an even darker world, using his sharp mind and fatal training to take on a make-or-break mission that hits closer to home than ever before.

As confirmed by Amazon MGM Studios, ‘The Accountant 2’ will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video from Thursday, June 5, 2025.

‘The Accountant 2’: Star Cast

The action-thriller casts some of the most famous stars of Hollywood. As Ben Affleck returns in the lead role of ‘Christian Wolff’, Jon Bernthal also takes up his previous role of Christian’s brother, ‘Brax’, along with Cynthia Addai-Robinson, who plays ‘Marybeth Medina’, the U.S. Treasury deputy director. Daniella Pineda is seen playing ‘Anais’ alongside J.K. Simmons as ‘Raymond King’ and Allison Robertson as ‘Justine’.

With the writer Bill Dubuque and Gavin O’Connor as the director, the action-packed thriller movie proved to be a box office success and is now going to be available for OTT viewers.  

 Will there be a third part of ‘The Accountant’?

Both of the movies ‘The Accountant [2016]’ and ‘The Accountant 2 [2025]’ have been blockbusters, with ‘Christian’ and ‘Brax’ stealing the hearts of fans. The director, Gavin O’Connor, has expressed his interest in continuing the series, voicing his wish to create a full trilogy. While a third movie has not been confirmed, O’Connor assures there will not be another long gap like the one between the first and second parts.

While the making and release of the third part remains a suspense, ‘The Accountant 2’ would be duly released on Amazon Prime Video this thursday.
