On Friday, a group of protesting farmers stopped the shooting of Bobby Deol, Vikrant Massey, and Sanya Malhotra starrer film Love Hostel in Patiala, Punjab. According to reports, the actors were not on the set during this time. But crew members were setting their equipment. The farmers prevented the crew from working and asked them to leave. When the crew members left the location with the equipment, the protesting farmers spoke to the local media and said that they would not allow any member of the Deol family to shoot in Punjab and Haryana.
A representative of the group told the media that Bobby Deol, who is involved in the film's star cast, belongs to the Deol family, close to the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said, "Bobby Deol's brother Sunny Deol is a BJP MP. Mother Hema Malini is a BJP MP and father Dharmendra is a former BJP MP."
He said that the Deol family did not talk about the ongoing farmers' movement for the last two months. But after the social media post of pop star Rihanna, Hema Malini wrote the post in favor of the government.
Hema on Twitter had written, "‘Im intrigued by foreign celebrities to whom our glorious country, India, is just a name they have heard, boldly making statements about our internal happenings and policies! Wonder what they are trying to achieve, and more imptly, who are they trying to please?"
Earlier, Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor's film shooting was stopped twice. As a result, the crew decided to shift the shooting of Good Luck Jerry to another state.
