A bride from Odisha eloped from her marriage with herlover, according to a report published on India Today website. To avert the socalled 'humiliation' the family members got their minor girl married to thegroom at Kalahandi in Odisha.
After getting information about the event, police reachedthe spot and rescued the girl. It was too late because the marriage was alreadysolemnized. The minor is said to be 15 years old. The minor girl could now stayat her home or at hostel if she wishes to complete her education, as per thereport.
The police was quoted by India today as saying, "Theminor will be allowed to stay with her husband at her in-laws' place only aftershe attains 18-years of age."
Arjun, the brother of minor girl said, during themarriage ceremony they came to know that his elder sister fled from their homeand they decided to marry his younger sister to the groom.
