Ahead of festival season, DGP Iqbal Sahota directs officers to intensify vigil at sensitive places

Remain alert during Festival season, Call 112 or 181 to report if anything suspicious found, DGP Sahota urges Public

Inorder to ensure peace and communal harmony in the border state, officiatingDirector General of Police (DGP) Punjab Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota on Saturdaychaired a high-level meeting at Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in SASNagar.

TheDGP, who was accompanied by ADGP Varinder Kumar, ADGP Internal Security RNDhoke and ADGP Counter Intelligence & OCCU Amit Prasad reviewed the presentscenario of Internal Security in the state.

Themeeting took place at a time when the state has been witnessing recovery ofGrenades and RDX laden tiffin boxes besides recovery of other arms andammunition, signalling major attempts being made by anti-national elements todisturb law and order in the state.

Afterthe briefing with senior officers from the Internal Security wing, the DGP hadexpressed the satisfaction that Punjab Police has been doing great job oncounter terrorism front and various modules busted in this regard and thepeople involved in this crime have already been arrested.

"Thesituation in the state is absolutely peaceful and Punjab Police is ready forany challenges," he said.

Withfestival season is around the corner, DGP Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota stressed onthe need to intensify vigil on anti-national elements and directed Intelligenceofficers to stay alert round-the-clock.

Hegave clear instructions to officers to not let anyone take law in their handsand if any person found indulged in any violent activities should be dealt withfirmly and criminal cases should be registered immediately.

DGPSahota also cautioned the people of Punjab to remain alert all the time, andimmediately report to the police if they find any suspicious thing lyingabandoned or unclaimed anywhere, including in trains, buses or restaurants etc.“People can inform the Police on 112 or 181 helpline numbers,” he added.

Meanwhile,ADGP RN Dhoke apprised the DGP about the terrorist and criminal activities thattook place in the state in the recent past.
