Aftertwo explosives-laden drones crashed into the high-security India Air Forcestation at Jammu this morning, an alert has been sounded in Punjab's borderdistrict of Pathankot.
ThePunjab Police and army officials have been keeping a tight vigil near keyinstallations in Pathankot. Besides, patrolling across the district has beenstrengthened near sensitive areas and additional forces were deployed.
Fiveyears ago, the Pathankot Air Force base had come under terror attack.
“Thesecurity has been strengthened in view of the situation. Whenever there is anincident of this kind, maximum alert is sounded in neighbouring areas," saidPathankot's Senior Superintendent of Police, Surendra Lamba.
Hesaid they have been keeping an eye on inter-state border movement and specialisedcommandos and SWAT teams of Punjab Police are being deployed strategically.

Twoblasts within a gap of five minutes shook the high-security technical area ofJammu airport in the early hours of Sunday. The blast took place on theintervening night of June 26-27, first at around 1.45 am tearing off the roofof a building at the technical area of the airport guarded by the Air Force andthe second one occurred on the ground.
Ahigh-grade meeting has been called at the Air Force station where senior policeand Indian Air Force officials are present.
