In a shocking event, it is revealed that aman from Andhra Pradesh is being arrested by the police for stealing Gold from a bank worth Rs 2.36 Crores. Sumantha was an attendee of Bank of Baroda, BapatlaBranch of Guntur District.
The police arrested Sumantha and his twoaccompanies on September 2. It was found in the investigation that theyreplaced the real gold with the fake gold. During the audit, the whole incident cameinto the limelight.
The Police officials said, “Perla Sumanthahad bad habits of playing Rummy online and other gambling games. To invest ingambling, he looted the bank where he was working.”
Taking help of the friend Ashok Kumar and hisbrother Kishor Kumar, Sumantha carried out this loot successfully.
“He looted 5.8kg original gold items from 48different bags and replaced them with fake gold items,” the police saidfurther.
Afterwards, he opened different accounts andpledged the entire gold at Muthoot Gold Loan Company. Sumantha pledged a totalof 4837.64 grams gold worth Rs 1.87 crores at Muthoot Finance. He also obtaineda loan of Rs 34 lakhs from there.
Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court lifted theban from online rummy. The Kerala government imposed the ban under Gaming Act,1960. The ban was lifted on the basis that rummy is a game of skill.
Due to this, Sumantha was able to play againonline rummy. He spends the money looted from the bank in online gaming.
Now, the Andhra police is investigating theentire matter. Sumantha and his friends were taken into custody.
