The day has arrived on which the fate of candidateswill be decided. The vote counting will begin at 8 am in the four states: West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, andthe Union Territory Puducherry.
It may be noted here that this is the secondAssembly results declaration day amid the coronavirus pandemic. The votecounting will commence amid tight security and in compliance with the Covidsafety protocol on Sunday morning.
Initially, the counting of postal ballots will startat 8 am and the votes polled in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will becounted after half an hour. However, it would take a little time to reflect thetrends after the counting begins.
Notably, it is the day when counting of votes willalso be done for the by-polls of two Lok Sabha seats- one each in Karnataka andAndhra Pradesh and 14 assembly seats across 11 states.
Amid the Covid crisis, the Election Commission ofIndia (ECI) has banned the victory processions and roadshows once a seat’s result is declared. A maximum of two people are allowed to come along with thewinning candidate to collect the certificate of election from the ReturningOfficer.
