As the Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharam ispresenting Budget 2021, she said the Minimum Support Price will continue at asteady pace.
This assertion comes at a time when the farmers areprotesting at the borders of Delhi to convince the government for repeal of thecontentious farm laws.
The Finance Minister said, more than Rs 75,000 crore werepaid to wheat farmers in 2020-21. She added the total amount paid to paddy farmerssurged to Rs 1.72 lakh crore in 2020-21.
While Sitharaman said the government is committed to thewelfare of farmers, the opposition leaders protested to the claims made by her.
