Canadian actor, known for the Sound of Music, Christopher Plummer dies at 91

Plummer died at his home in Connecticut while his wife Elaine Taylor was by his side

An Oscar award winner, Canadian actor, best known for hisrole in The Sound of Music, Christopher Plummer has died. He was 91 years old. Plummerwas also nominated for the Oscars for The Last Station in 2010 and All theMoney in the World in 2018.

The Man who would be King and Knives out are two of hisanother popular films. He played a villainous Klingon in a Star Trek film and TV anchorman in The Insider.

According to reports, he died at his home in Connecticutwhile his wife Elaine Taylor was by his side, according to a report in BBC. Plummer'smanager and his long term friend, Lou Pitt remembered him as, "anextraordinary man who deeply loved and respected his profession".

In a statement to a PA news agency, the Sound of Musicco-star Dame Julie Andrews said, "The world has lost a consummate actortoday and I have lost a cherished friend."

Oscar awards academy, the Academy of Motion Pictures,Arts and Sciences said, Plummer " "beguiled audiencesacross generations."

Similarly, Bafta appreciated his work since 50s in acondolences message.

The official Twitter handle of The Sound of Musictweeted, " We're saddened tohear of Christopher Plummer’s passing. His legacy as our Captain will live onin THE SOUND OF MUSIC forever. Our thoughts are with his loved ones during thistime." The tweet was also accompanied by a video.
