CBSE announces new scheme for 2021-22, academic session divided into two terms

Efforts will be made to make internal assessments or practicals or project work more credible and valid

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Mondayannounced a new scheme for the academic year 2021-22 which will be divided intotwo terms. Each term will approximately carry 50% syllabus and the first yearexamination will be conducted in November- December, second term examination tobe scheduled in March-April.

The decision has been taken to buff up the strength ofconducting Class 10 and 12 board exams at the end of the academic session.

1.   Theacademic session 2021-22 will be divided into two terms and will carry 50%syllabus in each term. At the end of each term, the examination will take placebased on a 50% syllabus.

2.   Thesyllabus for the 2022 board exams will be rationalized similar to that of theprevious academic session notified in July 2021.

3.   Inorder to disseminate the lessons, CBSE schools will follow the curriculum andsyllabus released by CBSE on March 31. Moreover, the school will also usean alternative academic calendar and inputs from the NCERT to deliver thecurriculum.

4.   Effortswill be made to make internal assessments or practicals or project work morecredible and valid as per the guidelines and moderation policy that will beannounced by CBSE to ensure fair distribution of marks.

How will the syllabus be delivered tothe students?

1.  
Bythe time in-person mode of teaching does not get the permission to resume,academic transactions will remain distant.

2.   ForClasses 9 and 10 internal assessments three periodic tests will be conductedalong with student enrichment, portfolio, and practical work/ speaking listeningactivities/ projects.

3.   Forthe Class 11 and 12, the internal assessment will include end of topic or unittests/ exploratory activities/ practicals/ projects.

Additional guidelines forSchools:

1.    The schools will create students' profiles to assess the performance for the entire session.

2.   Assessmentrecord will be maintained digitally3.   Schoolswill upload the marks of internal assessment on the CBSE IT platform

Guidelinesfor internal assessment for all subjects will also be released along with therationalized term-wise divided syllabus for the session 2021-22. The Boardwould also provide additional resources like sample assessments, questionbanks, teacher training, etc for more reliable and valid internal assessments.
