Central government family pensioners can receive up to Rs 1.25 lakh as monthly family pension

The amount of maximum family pension under the Government is Rs 1.25 lac per month plus dearness relief (DR) as admissible from time to time.

The Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare is the nodal department for formulation ofpolicies relating to pension and other retirement benefits of Central Govt.employees covered under CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972 Apart from formulation ofpension policy for the Central Govt. Pensioners/Family Pensioners, it alsoseeks to promote pensioners welfare and serves as a forum for the redressal ofPensioners' grievances.

As per the recentchanges, Central government family pensioners can receive up to Rs 1.25 lakh asmonthly family pension, according to details shared by Department of Pensionand Pensioners’ Welfare.

Following are the keypoints:-

·      The amount of maximum family pension underthe Government is Rs 1,25,000 per month (i.e 50 per cent of the maximum pay inthe government) plus dearness relief (DR) as admissible from time to time, asper details shared by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare.

·       So, if one is eligible and falls in thisbracket, he or she will get Rs 1.25 lakh of family pension per month.

·   Meanwhile, the amount of minimum familypension under the government is Rs 9,000 per month plus dearness relief asadmissible from time to time, according to details the Department of Pensionand Pensioners’ Welfare.

These details havebeen shared as part of Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare’s serieson “75 important rules related to Family Pension” with a view to creatingawareness among elderly pensioners.

In a case if both thehusband and wife were serving the country's central government and upon thedeath of both of them their dependent children will be eligible to receive upto two pensions capped at maximum Rs. 1.25 lakh per month.

In their previousnotification, the upper ceiling of family pensions was raised from Rs 45,000 toRs 1,25,000 per month informed Union Minister of State (Independent Charge)Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, PublicGrievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh.

“The amount of boththe family pensions will now be restricted to Rs 1.25 lakh per month, which ismore than two and half times higher than the earlier limit,” Dr Singh added.
