COVID kills more than 1,000 bank employees - banks withhold compensation policies

Banking is an essential service and work from home is not possible.

More than 1,000 employees of the banking sector in Indiahave been killed by the pandemic COVID, and many more are infected, claims AllIndia Bank Officers’ Association.

Even as most states of the nation are in complete or partiallockdown banks remain open. An essential service, banks are permitted to haveas much as 50% of their workforce in office to see that banking services forthe customers are not disrupted.

The number of deaths due to COVID are claimed to be 1,200 byAll India Bank Employees Association. This organisation claims that some banksare not forthcoming in sharing details of those who died due to COVID and thecompensation policies for the families of the deceased.
