Crackdown on drug smugglers under ‘Siege and Search’ operation of Kapurthala Police, six arrested

Two ‘A’ category big fishes who were proclaimed offenders also held along with other in this operation

Inits commitment of Punjab government to wipe out drug menace, Kapurthala policeled by SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh on Saturday launched an operation '2sSiege and Search' Operation in the area of police station Sultanpur Lodhi.

Specialteams carried out raids on drug smugglers by laying siege to the infamousvillage Lattianwala .

Ina press release, SSP said that different police teams were formed under thesupervision of SP detective and Dy SP Sarwan Singh Bal including three SHO’sand 160 police staff, today sieged the village Lattianwal and started thesearch operation in the village.

Duringsearch, different police teams apprehended six big fishes or smugglersincluding two proclaimed offenders wanted in 5 kg heroin recovery case andseized heavy amount of narcotics and illicit liquor from their possession, headded .

Theaccused smugglers have been identified as Rajvir Singh alias Raju, SukhjivanSingh, Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha, Amarjit Singh, Kulbir Singh alias sohan all residents of villagelattianwal and Harpal Singh alias Pala resident of village Toti in Sultanpurlodhi.  

SSPfurther elaborated that arrested smugglers Rajvir Singh alias Raju andSukhjivan Singh both were declared proclaimed offender in case fir no 126 dated01.08.2019 under section 21/29 of NDPS Act and were absconding for the last few years . Many cases were alreadyregistered against them under narcotics act, he added.

Hesaid that during this operation police seized 260 grams heroin from accusedRajvir Singh alias Raju and 265 grams heroin form Sukhjivan Singh, 450intoxicant pills form Lakhwinder singh alias lakha, 510 intoxicant pills fromAmarjit Singh, 270 grams of Narcotics powder and one Scorpio car from accusedHarpal Singh alias Pala and 150Kg of illicit liquor was also seized formaccused Kulvir Singh alias Sohan.

Heinformed that six different cases have been registered against these Narcoticssmugglers under the relevant sections of NDPS Act and Excise Act in policestation Sultanpur Lodhi.

SSPtold that the arrested smuggler will be produced before the magistrate by thePolice and their police remand will be sought to further investigate therebackward and forward linkage so that further arrest can be made of those whoare associated with these smugglers.

SSPreiterated that zero tolerance would be adopted against drug smugglers and suchmore '2s' operations would be started in coming days to eliminate the drugmenace.
