DC appeals to healthcare workers to get Covid-19 vaccine jab as Feb 25 is the last date for the inoculation

Says, after the deadline healthcare workers registered in first phase would not be able for vaccination

As last date for the first phase of thevaccination of registered healthcare workers being February 25, 2021, DeputyCommissioner Ghanshyam Thori today appealed to all the remaining healthcareworkers to come forward to get the vaccine jab to protect their families fromthe ill-effects of this deadly virus.

Presiding over a review meeting here at theDistrict Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that as many as35,116 healthcare and frontline workers had been registered for the first phaseof the vaccination drive. He said that a total of 11370 healthcare workers outof the total registered 15435 have taken the vaccine jab by now and thedeadline for the first phase of vaccination of healthcare workers is going toend on February 25, 2021.

The deputy commissioner called upon all theremaining healthcare workers to come forward in huge numbers at the vaccinationcenters to keep their families from infection.

Divulging more, Mr. Thori said that a total of7626 healthcare workers have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine while3744 others have received the second dose. Similarly, as many as 7317 frontlineworkers have been vaccinated in the district so far and about 49190 doses ofCovid-19 vaccines were issued to our armed forces establishments in Jalandhar.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner has issuedmagistrate orders under section 144 of CrPC and national disaster managementact to ensure the ceiling of persons in all kinds of indoor and outdoorgatherings. As per orders a cap of 100 and 200 persons has been fixed by thestate government for indoor and outdoor gatherings respectively includinggatherings for social, religious, sports, entertainment, educational, cultural,and other gatherings. These restrictions would be effective from March 1, 2021to till further orders.

Similarly, Police authorities have been askedto check the implementation of Covid appropriate behavior in theirjurisdictions to keep the virus spread at bay.
