DC Ludhiana initiates measures to handle resurgence of Covid

The DC Instructed Officials To Ensure 4500 RT-PCR Tests Daily To Handle Any Rise In Covid In Addition To Directing Officials To Gear Up For Restarting Home Isolation And Control Room

Ludhiana, February 25- In order to halt the resurgence ofthe Covid-19 cases by ensuring effective testing, Deputy Commissioner VarinderKumar Sharma directed the officials to conduct 4500 Reverse TranscriptionPolymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) tests daily in Ludhiana and ensure aggressivecontact tracing by re-structuring the teams. 

Presiding over virtual meeting with Police, Civil and healthofficials, Deputy Commissioner said the Ludhiana has been again witnessing aslight increase in positive cases for past few days and it is time to ensureeffective testing of the people through RT-PCR. 

He clearly asked the health department to test 4500 RT-PCRtests in the district only which will help to identify the accurate potentialCovid cases and break the transmission chain of the virus. 

He said that the sampling must be done on war footage sothat spread of pandemic could be checked at the earliest in the district. 

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that districtadministration was fully equipped with resources and manpower to combatCovid-19 and no stone would be left unturned for this noble cause adding thatwar against CoronaVirus would be won with the support of people, who couldcontribute their share by confining them to home. 

He also asked the officials to reactivate control room andhome isolation cell for better Covid management here. 

During the meet, Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal saidthat Ludhiana Police Commissionerate have already started issuing challansagainst those who are not wearing masks and from March 1, restrictions ofgathering would be strictly enforced. 

He also said that the police have also been distributingmasks among the people. 

SSP Ludhiana (Rural) Charanjit Singh Sohal, SSP KhannaGursharandeep Singh Grewal and ADC (D) Sandeep Kumar ADC (G) Amarjit Bains andothers also attended the virual meeting.
