DC, MLA dedicate a first-of-its-kind ‘Lab On Wheels’ to students of Nawanshahr

This moving computer and science lab has been prepared with a cost of Rs 48 lakh and is well equipped with 12 computers, WiFi facility, LEDs, various science related instruments

DeputyCommissioner, Dr. Shena Aggarwal and local MLA, Angad Singh, dedicated thefirst-of-its-kind unique ‘Lab on Wheels’  to the students of Nawanshahrdistrict here at a function organised at Govt. Senior Secondary Schooltoday.

“Thepath breaking initiative would virtually prove a boon for  the students of423 primary and 211 Senior Secondary government schools in SBS Nagar. Sinceevery government school doesn’t have proper infrastructure and labs, this" Lab On Wheels"  would provide an opportunity to the studentsespecially belong to less privileged section of the society to learn outsidethe classes” DC said.

Sheadded that this would help to draw maximum number of students towardsscience and develop a scientific approach among the students by providing thempractical training in an interesting manner, this moving computer and sciencelab has been prepared with a cost of Rs 48 lakh and is well equipped with 12computers, WiFi facility, LEDs, various science related instruments,microscopes, various models of physics, chemistry and biology giving out adetailed information of concepts such as DNA, heart, skeleton, laws ofreflection of light, periodic table etc.

NawanshahrDeputy Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal, while dedicating the " Lab OnWheels" to the students said that the bus would move on a rotational basisin the schools.

Theidea behind the initiative is to make the subjects interesting for thestudents, so that they enjoy while attaining knowledge. The bus will cover allprimary, middle and senior secondary schools in the district. Computerand science teachers from the schools will be deputed turn-wise so that theycould teach the students with an expertise. 

The DC further added that good andtrained science teachers from government schools have been taken onboard forthe project and if there is a need, extra staff on a permanent basis will bedeputed.

MLA,Angad Singh, in his address expressied  his gratitude towards the RajyaSabha Member KTS Tulsi, Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar and the DeputyCommissioner, Dr. Shena Aggarwal for giving concrete shape to this uniqueproject.

Healso appreciated the efforts of the officials and teachers of the districteducation department for setting up  innovative Science and Computer Labsin the " Lab Obn Wheels". He also enumerated his projects likesetting up the Government College at Jadla, getting abundant funds released forensuring state of the art infrastructural facilities at the local Govt. Senior SecondarySchool and state of the art Stadium at nearby village Bhangal Kalan forensuring better education and sports facilities for the youth. 

DistrictEducation Officer (Secondary) Jagjit Singh, Deputy DEO, Amrik Singh, PrincipalSarbjit Singh and Spokesperson Education Department Parmod Bharti among otherswere present on the occasion.
