DCP and ADC review preparations for the Republic Day function in Jalandhar

Pledge to uphold glorious tradition of celebrating the event adhering to covid protocols, full dress rehearsal to take place on January 22

Deputy Commissioner of Police (HQ) Arun Saini andAdditional Deputy Commissioner (G) Jasbir Singh today reviewed the preparationsfor the Republic Day celebrations slated to take place on January 26.

Saini and Singh visited the stadium along with seniorofficials of the police and administration and took stock of the arrangementsin Guru Gobind Singh Stadium.

Deputy Commissioner of Police and Additional DeputyCommissioner said that the district would uphold the glorious tradition duringthe celebrations of Republic Day adhering to all Covid protocols.

They said that this time the district level 72nd RepublicDay function this year would be a low key affair in wake of the Covid-19pandemic.

They said that as per the government's guidelines thistime gathering would be limited and the function would be kept simple.

Referring to the state government’s guidelines regardingR-Day function amid COVID, DCP and ADC said that there would be no massivegathering during the event as it used to be in previous years and thecontingent of Punjab Police would give salute.

They also clarified that there would be no otheractivities like PT shows, cultural events, parades etc in order to maintain thesafety guidelines. They added that a full dress rehearsal would take place onJanuary 22.

They also said that health & safety protocolsincluding social distancing, wearing masks, hand sanitizing, disinfecting thepremises would be accorded top priorities.

They also asked the security personnel, especially atfrisking points, to follow all the safety protocol to avoid further spread ofthe virus.

Prominent amongst other present on the occasion includedSDM Dr Jai Inder Singh, Assistant Commissioner Hardeep Singh, DFWO Dr RamanGupta, District Education Officer Harinder Pal Singh and others.
