Dead UP farmer's kin booked for draping body in National flag, as disrespect to Tricolor

Balvinder had left for the Ghazipur border on January 23 while the family got a call from the police about his death on February 1

After the death of UP farmer, the body of the deceasedwas allegedly draped in the National Flag. The police have now booked BalvinderSingh's wife and brother, as per report published in The Times of India.

After the death of a 32 year old Balvinder Singh, the UPpolice have booked his wife and brother for allegedly insulting ordisrespecting the national flag of India.

Balvinder had left for the Ghazipur border on January 23while the family got a call from the police about his death on February 1.Delhi Police had told the family that he had died in a road accident.

After his autopsy at the Lal Bahadur Shashtri hospital,Singh's body was handed over the family and his last rites were performed inhis village.

Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, SHO of Seramau North Police stationsaid, "His wife Jasveer Kaur, brother Gurvinder Singh and an unidentifiedperson have been booked under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults toNational Honour Act."

Balvinder's brother, Gurvinder Singh justified drapingtricolor around the dead body of his brother becuase he said the farmers arefighting for the country while funeral is a sacred ritual and it was apatriotic gesture. He said, his brother was a martyr for the cause of farmersprotesting at Delhi.

Virendra Singh, younger brother of Balvinder hadquestioned about the death of his brother. He said Balvinder's dead body hadmultiple injuries on face, he would have received injuries or fractures ifmowed down by any vehicle.
