Department of Food Processing releases grant worth Rs 1.21 crore to Food Processing Units and Universities - Soni

Mr. Soni said that the scheme One District One Product Scheme of Government of India is being implemented effectively.

Departmentof Information and Public Relations, Chandigarh, Punjab: January 2 - PunjabCabinet Minister Mr. Om Prakash Soni informed here today that Food ProcessingDepartment, Punjab has released a grant of Rs.1.21 crore to the processingunits and universities under National Food Processing Scheme. 

Whileaddressing a press conference at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh here today, Mr. Sonisaid that Punjab Government was working expeditiously for further developmentin the field of food processing. 

Mr.Soni said that the scheme One District One Product Scheme of Government ofIndia is being implemented effectively.

Thisscheme would prove to be very beneficial for the small scale industries besidescreating employment opportunities in the state, he added. 

Hesaid that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister

Capt.Amarinder Singh was working on a plan to organize the traditional processingindustries like pickles, jaggery, papad, marmalade etc. operating in the stateand sell them under one brand name. 

Hesaid that under this scheme a target of Rs. 14.84 crore has been set to bespent this year which would benefit 167 units associated with the foodprocessing industry.
