Devotees pay obeisance in Punjab to mark 400th Prakash Purb

The Golden Temple complex was adorned with lights to mark the occasion

Amidthe coronavirus surge, thousands of devotees on Saturday paid obeisance atgurdwaras across Punjab to commemorate the 400th Prakash Purb celebrations ofGuru Tegh Bahadur Sahib.

Religiousfervour was seen at Harmandar Sahib, the holiest of Sikh shrines also known asGolden Temple, in Amritsar and other historic gurdwaras across the region asdevotees began to assemble since early morning to offer prayers and listen tothe 'kirtan' or hymns.

TheGolden Temple complex was adorned with lights to mark the occasion.

ChiefMinister Amarinder Singh greeted people on the occasion and urged them to watchthe events on television and offer 'ardas' for 'Sarbat Da Bhala' from theirhomes and avoid congregating at the religious places in view of the pandemic.

Althoughdue to weekend lockdown in Punjab, the local Sikh Temples were forced to cancelthe scheduled programmes for the day, however, the devotees still managed toreach Gurudwaras to pay obeisance and seek blessings of the ninth Sikh Guru onthe occasion of 400th Prakash Purab.

Besides,Prime Minister Narendra Modi today morning visited Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib topay homage to Guru Teg Bahadur and mark the holy occasion of 400thPrakash Purab.
