Suresh Arora, Director General of Police, Punjab has been granted a nine months extension in his service period which makes it an overall extension of 12 months beyond the dates of his superannuation.
The 1982 batch IPS officer has been instrumental for Punjab during his service and the decision has been taken in public interest.
The court had last year outlined the procedure for the appointment of DGPs in states.
