On Wednesday morning, DMDK president Vijayakanth was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai.
Though media reports reported that the actor-politician had complained of shortness of breath and was rushed to the hospital, DMDK claimed in a statement that he was admitted for a routine health checkup.
Doctors had told his family that his condition was improving, according to the statement.
Mr. Vijayakanth is expected to be discharged in a day or two after treatment, according to the doctor.
