The Great Indian Kitchen, a Malayalam film, was one of the most talked about films on social media after its release. It was lauded for depicting gender and patriarchal problems in Indian households in a sensitive manner. It's actually available on Amazon Prime Videos now.
The film had also created a lot of hype after its creators announced that they had faced numerous obstacles in relation to its release. The director Jeo Baby discussed the film's rejection by prominent OTT platforms in an interview with Kozhikode-based media house Truecopy THINK.According to his comments in the interview, Amazon Prime Video agreed to release the film at first but later refused, saying that the film did not meet their standards. Netflix India, on the other hand, did not watch the film and told them that it would not be released.
The rejection of the film by OTT Platforms sparked debate among netizens, with some questioning whether OTT giants truly provide a platform for low-budget and regional language films.
Baby took to Instagram to Thank fans, thanking both Neestream and the audience for helping to keep The Great Indian Kitchen important over the last two months.
