Elections on mind, Punjab government reduces power tariff by up to Re 1

The new tariffs will be applicable from June 1, 2021 to March 3, 2022.

With elections on mind, the Captain Amarinder Singh-ledPunjab government has announced new power tariff in which a cut of 50 Paise toRupee 1  per unit for domestic consumers inPunjab has been announced.

Commercial consumers’ tariff remains unchanged and so doesfor the small and medium industry.

However, large industrial consumers see an increase in theirtariff by less than 2%.

Specifically, for domestic consumers with load up to 2kW andconsumption slabs of 0 to 100 units the tariff per unit has been reduced byRupee 1. For the consumption slab of units 101 to 300, the tariff per unit hasbeen reduced by 50 Paise.

For those domestic consumers who have load from 2kW to 7kW,for consumption slab from 0 to 100 units, the tariff per unit has been reducedby 75 Paise, and for the consumption slab 101 to 300 units, the tariff has beenreduced by 50 Paise.

The financial relief to the consumers will in the range ofRs 682 crore.
