On Monday,17-year-old Reza left home with his 16-year-old brother, Kabeer.
It was the day afterthe Taliban came to Kabul, triggering the collapse of the Afghan government.The two brothers fled for the airport in hopes of escaping, fearing lifeunder Taliban rule.
The family memberstold that they were very upset after finding the body of the teenager, but areworried about the whereabouts of his brother. “His legs and arms were gone. Ibrought him back myself,” a family member said.
The video showing 17-year-old'sbody falling from the plane like a tiny speck sent shockwaves across the world.Many rights group and other organisations called for intervention to controlthe situation in Afghanistan.
The family members saidthey hope to find their younger son "dead or alive"; they havesearched all the hospitals in Kabul but have so far not received anyinformation about the 16-year-old.
"We are worried,and we went from one hospital to another, but we didn't get anyinformation."
While speaking, thefamily member highlighted what had triggered the two brothers that eventuallyled to their tragic demise.
According to thereport, the two boys had heard a rumour from their neighbours that 20,000people would be relocated to Canada or the United States. This prompted the twoto flee to the airport and try their luck there.
"Without tellinganyone in the house, he took his personal ID, and left for the airport,"the family member said.
The member alsoaccused the Taliban of killing people and said that it was that fear of theTaliban that everyone was trying to run away.
"...They[Taliban] are killing people. They have all left to the airport from lack ofjobs and opportunity. They want to go abroad," the family member said.
