Farmer's protesting at Delhigot a breather after the apex court tried to assuage their fears by proposing astay on implementation on the contentious farm laws and by framing a courtmonitored committee. As per various reports the farmer's are unlikely to be apart of any such committee and their repeal demand is still intact.
Farmer's are of the opinionthat the deadlock between the protestors and Government is due to the "stubbornattitude" of interlocutors. Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), the larger bannerunder which the farmer unions are collectively protesting have expressed theirrespect towards the Supreme Court and its understanding of the issue.
However, the governmentfiled a 45 page affidavit in the court after the court heard a clutch ofpetitions later yesterday stating limiting number of farmers were protestingthe farm laws and said that the farmer's of the country are generally happywith the implementation of laws.
As per farmer's the attitudeand approach of the government in the court has made it clear that thegovernment is not going to listen to their demands with open mind. Anticipatedas repeat of what the government said earlier, the committee has not beenregarded as a solution by the farmers.
70 farmers have died bravingthe cold in a protest that has been running for around 40 days. Majority of thefarmers are from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh while some havealso come from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil-Nadu.
“Farmers and we as theirrepresentatives once again express our gratitude to the honorable Supreme Courtbut regret our inability to accede their suggestions,’’ farmer's unions addedin a statement.
All India Kisan SangarshCoordination Committee (AIKSCC) on Sunday had stated that Supreme Court couldnot have any rule in the Farmer's protest. They had alleged that the governmentwould be using court as a 'political shield.' When the Agriculture Minister,Narendra Singh Tomar, suggested the farmer's to seek a solution from the court, the farmer's unions had denied on his face and continued their protests tilltheir goals weren't met.
Casefiled against Chaduni:
Haryana police have filed acase against Gurnam Singh Chaduni, a leader of Bharatiya Kisan Union fromHaryana in the context of vandalism at the CM Manohar Lal Khattar's event in Karnalon Sunday. Chaduni said it was in response to BJP's response to the ongoingprotest.
While it is expected thatthe Supreme Court might stay the implementation of the laws as in the hearingheld yesterday, the court raps the government. The CJI was 'extremely disappointed',the way the issue is being handled by the government.
