As the pandemic is surging in India, people fromdifferent corners are trying their best to serve humanity. Many such storieshave also come across where we have seen an actor turning into an ambulancedriver, people helping others with oxygen cylinders. Such is a story ofMumbai-based Harsh Mandavia and his mother Heena Mandavia became messiahsfor the poor.
The mother-son duo has filled stomachs of ‘n’ number ofpeople during the second wave of Covid.
Owners of Harsh Thali and Paranthas, Harsh and Heena haveserved over 22,000 meals, 55,000 rotis, and 6,000 homemade sweets.
Howdid ‘Harsh Thali and Paranthas’ begin?
According to the sources, Harsh lost his father in a caraccident, at that time, Harsh was just 5. Harsh's mother strongly believed thatshe would handle her son and raise him properly by providing him the besteducation. Despite all the odds, Heena Mandavia began tiffin service athome. Her first income was Rs. 35, Heena would cook the food and Harsh used todeliver it from door-to-door. Slowly and steadily, business picked up, and in2003, one customer helped this duo by giving Rs. 70,000 and rented space aswell. That’s how Harsh Thali and Paranthas got a new place and shape.
In 2020, when the lockdown was imposed, they startedhelping people after a customer asked them to feed 100 people.
Harsh says, “That evening, I put up a post on socialmedia saying that we were accepting orders. People from all over starteddonating money. Maa and I would feed 100-150 people every day.”
When the second wave hit, Harsh again posted it on socialmedia and received 1.5 lakhs donations in just two days.
Harsh recalls the time when strangers had helped hisfamily to get out of their bad phase. Reciprocating the same, Harsh tries toextend help towards the people who have been hit hard by the pandemic so he cansave precious lives when the authorities failed to do so.
