In a protest against the farmlaws whose implementation has been stayed by the government, many people havedied and some committed suicide. Even after some people were seen holdingplacards at the protest site trying to make farmers aware to shun the idea ofcommitting suicide, five more farmers have died in various parts of Punjab.
BabaNaseeb Singh Mann, aged 55, shot himself in his village atFaridkot on Monday. A suicide has been recovered after the incident that hasshaken his villagers. In a video shot of December 20 last year, he had saidthat if the government wouldn't pay heed to the needs of the farmers, they willhave no option left but to commit suicide. He termed it a 'shahadat' sacrifice.
Another farmer, Lovepreet Singh, aged 26, died afterreturning from the protest site. He belonged to a Swai Ke Village in the Mamdotarea. In Muktsar Sahib, two more farmers named Avtar Singh, aged 79 and Jagtar Singh have died.
While Avtar Singh was aresident of Lohara village. He died of cardiac arrest. He had gone to Delhi onDecember 17. Jagtar Singh died on cardiac arrest on yesterday who belonged toBarkandi village. Jagdish Singh,aged 61, died on the border who belonged to Lundewala village, reportedly bycardiac arrest.
Another farmer Harpinder Singh died in a hospital atLudhiana after developing some health issues at Tikri border.
LabhSingh (49) who consumed a poisonous substance in a protest againstfarm laws on Monday died. He belonged to Sirthala in Ludhiana. Amidstintensified protests, farmer's suicide have shot up. Now as the Supreme Courtstayed the implementation of laws, farmers have got a breather.
Meanwhile, farmers are nothappy with the committee being organized to resolve the issues.
