From Singer to politician, the Youngest AAP candidate from Kharar; Anmol Gagan Mann, wins the election with a huge margin

Young AAP candidate Anmol Gagan Mann won the Kharar assembly seat in Mohali district; defeated SAD candidate Ranjit Singh Gill with a huge margin

The results of thePunjab Assembly elections 2022 got declared yesterday. Aam Aadmi Party'syoungest candidate Anmol Gagan Mann from the Kharar Assembly seat has won theelection with a huge margin. Anmol Gagan Mann is a Punjabi Singer byprofession. She defeated Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Ranjit Singh Gillby a huge margin of 37718 votes. 
 
She contested in theAssembly elections for the first time and won. When she was given the ticketfor election, many party workers have opposed the decision, accusing her ofbeing an outsider. She competed with 16 other candidates for the seat. It isthe seat from which the maximum number of candidates contested. 
 
After her victory,Mann’s supporters distributed Laddooos while celebrating. She joined the AamAadmi Party in 2020. Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister ArvindKejriwal had also campaigned for her in Kharar. On the counting day, Aam AadmiParty maintained its lead in the early trends which continued till the last.Anmol Gagan Mann got a total of 78067 votes. 
 
 
Aam Aadmi Partyemerges as the single largest party in Punjab by winning 92seats out of 117seats. This is the first time in Punjab’s history that a party wonsingle-handedly after 25 years. Earlier, in 1997, the BJP-Akali alliance won 93seats out of 117 seats. On the other hand, in the 2017 elections, Congress won77 seats.
 
 BhagwantMann is set to become the new Chief Minister of Punjab. While AAP scoredthree-fourths of the seats, the Congress won 18, SAD 3, BJP 2, and BSP 1. AnIndependent also emerged victoriously.
