Govt Schools in Patiala lend new dimension to enrollment drive

The teachers are highlighting the distinctive features of the government schools in order to to  mobilise the masses to get their wards admitted in government schools.

The government schools in Patiala have launched another initiativeto enhance enrollment drive in the district. The school heads and staff aregoing to people with confidence to make them aware about the generalachievements of the government schools.

The achievement includes sprucing up infrastructural facilities,qualitative improvement in education, excellent results in Board Examinations,performance of government school students in various competitive examinations,cultural, sports and other co-curricular activities, the school heads arepreparing attractive, colourful and eye catching "e-prospectus".

The teachers are highlighting the distinctive features of thegovernment schools in order to to  mobilise the masses to get their wardsadmitted in government schools.

“The e prospectus is an innovative idea to showcase therevolutionary changes during the past four years in general as well asdistinctive features and achievements of the government schools inparticular", said District Education Officer(SE), Harinder Kaur, whileadding  that the Smart look of the school Campuses adorned with educativeBALA ( Building As Learning Aid) work, Smart Class rooms, equipped with LEDProjectors to ensure optimum utilisation of e.content as well as latest digitalapplications, innovative teaching modules, techniques and activities,colourful  furniture Smart Playgrounds, Well qualified staff, Wellequipped Computer, Science, Language labs, Libraries, neat, clean and hygienictoilets are catching the attention of the people.

Besides, the concerted, consistent and dedicated efforts being putin by the school staff to provide quality education , taking extra classes andkeeping in touch with the students, parents and different sections of thesociety through social media even during the turbulent period of pandemicCOVID-19 has succeeded in bringing in positive change in public perception.Consequently, the government schools witnessed about 15 per cent increase inenrollment during the academic session 2020-21. 

Tota Singh Chahal, Principal Govt Co-Education Multipurpose SeniorSecondary School, Pasi Raod, Patiala said that the school had prepared eprospectus and flexes to make the people aware about distinctive featuresof  the school, including,  optimum utilisation of digitalapplications, e content in smart classrooms as well as google classrooms, AtalTinkering Lab to imbibe scientific attitude, e library, media studies, theatreand cultural activities, sports activities in as many as 36 games, NCC,NSS wings  and IELTS classes available in the school. 

"The  government schools are aiming to mobilise peopleto ensure further increase in enrollment. The e.prospectus is being circulatedamong the target sections of the society by making use of the vast social medianetwork being created by the education department. The schools have their ownFace book pages and Whats App groups of students, parents, sarpanches,anganwadi workers, SMCs and other sections of the society”, said  SukhdarshanSingh Chahal, spokesperson, Education Department.

He added that e-prospectus is providing an opportunity to theparents to know about the government schools in their vicinity without spendinga single penny. It would help in mobilising them to get their wards admitted ingovernment schools to avail the benefits of infrastructural as well as quality education facilities  and various student welfare schemes ingovernment schools.
