A high alert has been issued to the Airports across the country after a hijack threat was given to an airline's operation centre in Mumbai. This would result in enhancement of security checks at airports including a stricter pre-boarding screening of passengers and the vehicles that enter the airport premises.
Earlier in the day, Air India's airport control centre got a call and a threat about an Indian Airlines flight being hijacked to Pakistan. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has taken the call rather seriously as the body issued a list of dos and don'ts for all the airports and airline operators across the country.
The BCAS has called for an intensive security check of the passengers, their luggage and the vehicles entering the airport premises. There has also been a deployment of quick reaction teams with an increase in Perimeter security.
