Punjab and Haryana High on hearing the petition filed byTikshan Sud, Senior BJP leader and former cabinet minister, in relation to thecow dung dumping case ordered Punjab Police to protect his family and takesteps to protect life, liberty and property of the petitioner.
Tikshan Sud said he never intended to make nor madestatements that hurt the feelings of the protesting farmers. He further addedthat the remarks were twisted by his opponents in which he was portrayed assaying that farmers were going to Delhi for picnic.
Sud said he was receiving many threats in the wake of anincident where cow dung was unloaded at his home by Ravinder Singh Khalsa alongwith 10-15 people who also used foul language on January 1 this year.
Sud added his wife has not been allowed to go out forcanvassing because she is contesting elections for the office of MunicipalCouncillor. He also said that BJP workers are not allowed to enter the locality.He requested the court to direct DGP of Punjab and SSP Hoshiarpur to provideadequate security to him citing the guard already provided to him works from 8am to 8 pm.
While issuing the notice to the state of Punjab forJanuary 29, the court has asked to police to make the assessment of threat heis getting and if there is any danger to the petitioner and his family.
