To stop the second wave of covid19 from spreading inIndia, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi today during a virtual meet with chiefministers of all states emphasized the fact that quick action and decisivesteps must be taken on time to deal with the prevailing covid19 situation. Healso reviewed the ongoing vaccination drive in the country and response ofpeople towards it in different states.

He said that people across the country had given a goodresponse to covid19 vaccine. They have showed confidence and trust in ourbattle against covid19; therefore we should turn this achievement intocarelessness. We have to deal with the prevailing situation without creatingpanic among the masses.
The strategy of ‘test, track and treat’ must be continuedto trace the maximum number of contacts of an infected person. We need to keepthe RT-PCR test rate above 70 per cent.
Modi asked the CMs to set up micro-containment zones amidsurge without hesitation and they must be quick enough to take an action.
Modi said that CMs have to increase testing in smallcities. They have to pay special attention to "referral system" and "ambulancenetwork" in small cities.
Effect of disaster in one part of the world can quicklyspread across the world; therefore, cooperation is must for ensuring theresilience of the global system.
PM said COVID-19 pandemic has taught us that in aninter-dependent and inter-connected world, no country- rich or poor, in theeast or west, north or south- is immune to the effect of global disasters.
PM Modi calls for more vaccination centres and said thatthe issue of wastage of vaccine doses must be dealt very seriously.
Modi tells CM that they have to free the people offdifficulties by taking some precautions and initiatives.
Such an increase of Covid cases is being seen in manydistricts that had protected themselves so far and were kind of safe-zones. 70districts of the country have seen an increase of more than 150% in last fewweeks. If we don't stop it here, a situation of nationwide outbreak can come up

PunjabCM Capt Amarinder urged PM to review immunization strategy to vaccinate all agegroups
As active Covid cases in the state surged to 12,616, withdaily positivity rate climbing to over 5%, Punjab Chief Minister CaptainAmarinder Singh on Wednesday urged the Centre to review its immunizationstrategy to vaccinate all age groups in selected areas, while announcing astricter policy to deal with the problem.
The Chief Minister also called for occupation-basedimmunization for school and college students and teachers, judges, bus driversand conductors, Panches/sarpanches, Mayors/Municipal CommitteePresidents/Counsellors, MLAS, MPs etc. to pave the way for normalization ofcrucial activities and check super-spreaders. He advocated early opening of thecourts to end the wait for justice for citizens, and also of schools andcolleges to bridge the gap between poor and affluent families in terms ofeducation.
